Avevo bisogno di una pausa e allora mi sono chiesta: prenoto un viaggio di un fine settimana? Ok no… forse una SPA…ma neanche questo itinerario mi convinceva e allora mi sono detta: sono a Lecce, quindi cosa c’è di meglio che esplorare alcuni posti del Salento?
Così, il mio fine settimana ha previsto tre giorni:
Venerdì: Acaya e Otranto
Sabato: Gallipoli e Punta della Suina
Domenica: Maglie e Leuca
In questo articolo vi racconto le meraviglie del primo giorno: Acaya e Otranto.
Parto per il versante adriatico per visitare il piccolo paese di Acaya, una frazione di Vernole che conta pressappoco 500 abitanti.
Di epoca medievale, questa città fortificata è racchiusa dalle mura di cinta che accolgono il Castello e il piccolo ma accogliente centro storico con costruzioni interamente in pietra leccese.
E’ inutile dire quanto ne sia rimasta affascinata non solo dall’architettura, ma anche dalla splendida luce del sole riflessa nella pietra leccese che dona il colore oro agli edifici!
Dopo una tranquilla e rilassante passeggiata tra i vicoli del centro storico e (ovviamente) un caffè leccese (caffè in bicchiere con ghiaccio e latte di mandorla), sono pronta per ripartire per la meta successiva: Otranto.
La meravigliosa e romantica città più a Oriente dell’Italia vanta acque cristalline e posti incantevoli da visitare, come il Castello, il centro storico, la Cattedrale con il famoso mosaico dell’albero della vita e la straordinaria Cava di baoxite.
Non ho potuto credere ai miei occhi di quanta bellezza naturale ho potuto godere in questa giornata. La natura, il mare e scorci naturali irripetibili sono impressi nella mia mente proprio perché la loro rara bellezza mi fa credere sempre più che Lecce e il Salento è il posto migliore per una permanenza perfetta!
Allora…nel frattempo che voi sognate insieme a me vedendo queste foto, ci vediamo al prossimo itinerario!
I just needed a break so I asked myself: “Do I book a trip for the weekend? … maybe a SPA” … but even that did not convince me and then I thought: I am in Lecce,what better way to explore some places in Salento!
My weekend was scheduled in three days:
On Friday: Acaya and Otranto
I left for the Adriatic coast to visit the small town of Acaya, a fraction of Vernole counting roughly 500 inhabitants.
This fortified town from the Middle Ages is enclosed by walls that welcome the Castle and the small but cosy old town with buildings made entirely of local stone.
And needless to say how much I was fascinated not only by the architecture, but also by the beautiful sunlight reflecting in the local stone that gives the gold colour to the buildings!
After a quiet and relaxing walk through the alleys of the old town and, of course, acaffè Leccese (a single espresso in a glass cup with ice and almond milk), I am ready to leave for the next destination: Otranto.
The beautiful and romantic city in the East of Italy boasts clear waters and beautiful places to visit, such as the Castello, the Old Town, the Cattedrale with the famous mosaic of the tree of life and the extraordinary Quarry bauxite.
I could not believe my eyes how much natural beauty I could enjoy on this day. The nature, the sea and unique natural views are in my mind because their rare beauty makes me believe more and more that Lecce and Salento is the best place for a perfect stay!
